Printed Pants, New York, and all Things Delightful

So over the last month, I have not been on the blog due to drowning in life events. This is what you may or may not have missed.

  • I Turned 16!!! No permit yet...
  • For said 16th birthday, I went to New York, and got a dress, a new bag, a houndstooth beanie, and some white eyeshadow.
    • My picture on my instagram is terrible, so these are the temporary website pics. I will post me in everything when I can pair the things I got well.

Beware... a feeling of "rich bitchiness" will come with this... this is the first time i ever bought a bag like this... ever.

Joggers are the best thing in the world...

    • I learned the struggle of Sephora... It's real.
  • I went on a HUMONGOUS shopping spree in PA.
    • I forget what I got, because I got a A LOT of clothes.,, I know I got a Marilyn Monroe tee, a camo blazer, a pair of orange and black knee highs, a pair of converse, a pair of tribal joggers, and a LOT more.
  • I scared the heck out of everybody on halloween

I was a broken doll. I did the makeup and my mom did the hair. *DRESS AND HEELS SPRING 2014 FROM TARGET*
**DISCLAIMER: DONT USE EYELINER ON YOUR BODY! IT DOES NOT COME OFF

So now, we go into my absolute favorite season of the year in terms of fashion... AUTUMN/WINTER!! This season is the best because of the fun ways to layer, and convention just falling apart right before our very eyes. People usually like to play with colors, or prints... or patterns in a way called power clashing. This is a fine art that requires a sharp eye towards size of the detail, and size of the garment itself. I have a houndstooth peacoat in BW that I wear with the dress above, or the Prabal Gurung "First Date" dress because of the BW/Color theme.

Joan Rivers

I know this is a little bit late, but I need to bring this topic up. Joan Rivers (1933-2014) made a big impact on my life, indirectly. I used to be very carefree about the fashion choices that I made in my early years. Now, I keep on top of the latest trends, and keep myself very forward. To me, Joan was somebody that I loved to watch every Friday on Fashion Police. I was amazed at the fact that she had the guts to say what other people didn't want to say. I also loved the fact that she had the drive, right up to the end. Unfortunately, I wasn't one of the people that got to watch Joan with Johnny Carson, and the early days; but she still amazed me. I was able to let somebody into my life that I found genuinely funny, and I didn't want to see her go. I watched the downhill (and uphill) spiral from the day she went to Mt. Sinai. The day she died, I literally bawled my eyes out. I didn't know that somebody could have that big of an impact on me, and the world. Yes, people have their opinions about her, but I was able to see her as just another human, except she was funny as heck. She would have me roaring over the absurd comments over absurd things. I feel for those around the world. A dear family friend, and co-worker of my mother's got the opportunity to meet Joan. I feel horrible for the people like him who actually met her, and then hearing she passed.

Have fun fashion-policing the streets of heaven.

Typical Junior vs. Plus Size

The concept of  "plus size" clothing is completely horrifying me today. Don't get me wrong, I am a curvy girl that needs to wear these kinds of clothes, but the looks are horrific. Yes, there are curves on my body, yes I have a fuller frame, but don't put me in some cheap, unflattering clothes. Give me lines to play with, dresses to explore, and confidence to feel free in. According to Cosmopolitan, plus size doesn't start until size 8. (Pardon the language) but that is a bunch of bullshit. That could make girls even as low as size 6 think "if you want to be considered, you have to be a 4 or less." We are held to unrealistic standards today, and that NEEDS to change. We need to teach the next generation that curves are beautiful, and that you are worth it, no matter what size. We need to teach people that curves are okay, and that not all women are going to be twigs. Designers, just get rid of "plus size." We are all beautiful, and that term is derogatory.

What do you think about curves? do you like them? sound off in the comments section if you think its okay to have curves, or to be skinny.

Reviews...

I am sorry to say this, but I think I will have to stop doing the project runway reviews only because I keep missing about ten minutes of it, and it just gets to be a hassle to catch up. The designers in the competition are doing amazing so far, and I hope the judges can figure out who the true best designer is. I hope you guys understand where I am coming from. In case anyone missed last night, Sean won and Char went home.

Please feel free to email me at justateenagefashionista@outlook.com with any questions, comments, concerns, and advice for me to better this blog.

thank you

Sorry...

Sorry I couldn't get last week's project runway up... I started it, but I got in late, and I was just so confused. The challenge was awkward; It was confusing, and I didn't even know what to think... I honestly think Kini got robbed, and I am happy. Hernan went home. I guess fringe is what makes the judges go APESHIT (pardon the language) with happiness...

Nasty bugs (not the kind that fly)

So these past few days, I kinda had a bug (fever, headache, blah blah blah) and did not do ANYTHING! I was going to do a back to school post yesterday, but I just felt TERRIBLE.  I still feel kind of crappy... I am literally laying on my couch in my tie dye art club t shirt and tribal shorts.  I feel a bit better now, but I still feel slightly blergh. I recommend if you have a fever, DayQuil/NyQuil, +Mio Energy and Binge watching tv is a MIRACLE WORKER. so I'm sorry if I wasn't on... I will definitely be back for my weekly project runway review. I recommend Wahlburgers on A&E...

Thank you

I know I probably should do this more often, but it just wanted to say thank you to everyone who reads this blog. I only made this thing in school one day when I was bored , and now it turned into my life. Thank you

The Future of Fashion is in THEIR hands!

The future of Fashion is coming quickly in tonight's challenge; the future of fashion!

In the Beginning, there was Angela, crying. again. for the... 10th time now? The designers are here to learn about the history of Project Runway's judges and mentors.
Tim was in his 12th year at Parson's
Heidi just got in New York
Zac just learned he was into fashion
Nina unpacked garment bags at Marie Claire
The sketches seem very intriguing so far... Sandhya and Hernan both have unrealistic ideas.

As the challenge advanced, the designers walked in the studio... only to learn that their baby photos were on the wall of the studio. Apparently the future is dark and depressing? and grunge? Where is the happiness? The only remotely happy thing in this entire workroom is Sandhya's look. IT ISN'T GOOD! Char's concept is really cool. Her concept was women rebelling against the "assigned" dress code.

The models came in later, causing an epidemic of uniboob, confusion, and a lack of basics. Alexander was saying that his model has bigger chi-chis and she looks like she has a uniboob. Women kind of have one overall shape in their chests. It's time for the final fittings, and Alexander is... not done.  Alexander's dress is done,  and ugly.

We are  in the future! These are my thoughts on each look, in no order. Red is loser, green is winner, bold is safe
Kristine- amazing jacket... not a fave... TOO SHORT "my favorite" -Heidi Klum
Hernan- amazing
Mitchell- not safe, Water World
Amanda*- there's no warrior princess, costume
Angela- i dont even know "Obi Wan Kenobi's manicurist" -Zac Posen (GOOD CALL HEIDI)
Emily- Winner in my eyes "not one of my favorites" -Nina Garcia (NINA IS WRONG)
Samantha- No cowl
Kini- not really...
fade- looks comfortable
Sean -bag hat was creative, but your models looks like a lady version of Lebanon Levi trying to be a man again... "Mary Poppins went shopping at Prada" -Zac Posen
Char- The top's cutouts were creative, and surprising
Korina- YASSS
Alexander- looks like a sack with leather trim "Maternity Mom" -Zac Posen and Kim Ensslen
Sandhya- NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO... its the lovechild of tron and an astronaut... "bold" "realistic"

*Amanda was barely safe AGAIN

WHY?

Project runway has been depressing so far this season. Yeah, the phrase "its only been two episodes" may be said more than once, but its true. The two winning looks were not good. Just because of ripped sleeves and some rope, does that make it SO UNIQUE? Heidi has taken over this season, and Zac, Nina, and even TIM have become pretty much... her dogs. She is becoming too controlling, if this keeps up; im stopping watching. By this point in other seasons, valid calls would be made

Fabulous movies

This is written as I am thinking it.

Movie night anyone? The newest episode of project runway was all about the silver screen, of course unconventionally. The challenge is UNCONVENTIONAL! I still can NOT believe that Sandhya won. I was not a fan of that dress. There is also a TEAM challenge! I remember the last time there was a mini-unconventional collection, it was CHAOS. Tim is looking sharp so far in his peacoat suit jacket. Carrie and Sandhya are so... Nearly scatterbrained in this challenge. Kini's team has a lot of good ideas, which could lead to a win. Angela is going insane. I honestly think that she should have went home last week. Sandhya's concept of motion is okay, but the look is terrible. She does have a sci-fi cheerleader skirt. Fäde has some really innovative ideas, which I LOVE! Angela has no idea what she's doing. Her concept is... Awkward. Sandhya's team is SCREWED! Tim? Miranda? It's last season' steam challenge all over again! Three separate looks with NO COHESION! Sandhya is seriously tattling. Okay, the concept is good, but it DOES NOT WORK. Angela's dress didn't even FIT over the model's head! Hernan's model is such a trooper, always willing to walk around half naked... Tim, you are the best. Sandhya, Carrie, and Hernan's dresses are amazing. Korina, Amanda had a... Not okay... Collection. The Green Team's looks we're ugly. The pads were unnecessary and ugly. The blue team will probably be safe. Kini, char, and Mitchell's looks were amazing. Sandhya's team is bottom and Amanda's is top. The loser of the night was Carrie and the winner was Angela.

So far, this season has really been irritating me. Crappy designers have been winning and good designers have been sent home. The winning dresses literally looked like fishing bait! The purple team (Mitch, Kini & Char) should have won. They had a realistic collection that looked GOOD!

Movie night anyone?

The newest episode of Project Runway is on tonight at 9:00 and it's... MOVIE NIGHT! The challenge is an unconventional, which I LOVE! Some of these looks produced during typical unconventional challenges are absolutely perfect! My favorite would have to be Ven Bhudu from Season 10 with the candy dress. That was definitely a show-stopping look in the regular challenges. Some of the unconventional looks also flop. Episode 1 of season 12 featured a challenge that definitely made some jump for joy, literally. The challenge was to make a look with parachute fabric. Of course there was extra fabric, that Miranda Levy took too much advantage of, causing a potential disqualification. The dress that Bradon McDonald produced was a big plate of spaghetti and amazeballs.

I am really excited for this challenge particular because it seems like a mystery. Are we going for the concept of movies in general, or towards a certain movie? How will the looks be in terms of reality? Check out my blog, as well as +Bert Keeter's blog www.bertkeeter.com!

Lips Lips LIPS

HAPPY NATIONAL LIPSTICK DAY EVERYONE! Lip shades from natural nudes to Vivid colors took over as people celebrated their little tubes of color that are safe to put on their mouths. You may be asking "how did you celebrate?" I pulled out my most vivid colors. I have Marilyn Monroe red to vibrant purples to Coral and orange to Bubblegum pink. The newest lipsticks that fell into my makeup box is a Matte lip cream by +NYX Cosmetics in Amsterdam, and a Matte balm (also by NYX) In a really light coral-ish color. I love both products so much. The cream is SO LIGHTWEIGHT! Usually people say that matte is chalky and thick. Both products are really lightweight, and long lasting... Before the I fell for NYX, I fell for +Maybelline NY Mx Color Sensational Vivids. Boys had their race cards, girls had barbies, I have four lipsticks from maybelline.    I would love to see NYX go to Drugstores for easier access. I live 20 minutes away from the nearest makeup store. I love NYX and it would be easier to get more of it. I would love Maybelline to come out with a more unconventional palette of vivids. Reds, pinks, oranges, and purples are all a part of convention. Throw that concept out the window and bring in teals, or lavenders. I would love for the NYX macaron lippies to come back to Ulta. I went on Sunday and couldn't get any. That's how I got the matte stuff. I like matte more than shine because the color bleeds out into the skin around my lips. It's not a good time at ALL.

Tips for lips
This is going to be a list of tips and why on how to survive the daunting challenge of lipstick.

How to wear

  1. You need to pick the shade of lipstick to fit your personality. I am a daring person so I went face first into the ballsiest shade of Red possible. If you are a lipstick virgin, ask a salesperson, they'll know what's best.
  2. The pointed lipstick is self explanatory. Put the flat part on your lower lip and put on about 1-2 coats or until it looks even.
  3. Take the flat part and put it one one side of the center of the lip.
  4. Pull the lipstick to the corner of your mouth
  5. Repeat steps 3&4 on the other side
  6. Pucker your lips, rub them in
  7. Now step out and feel CONFIDENT, people will love the bold shades.
Tip* don't do a full face of color

Nude eyes=bold lip
Bold eyes= nude or no lipstick

Project Runway Episode 1 "Final Audition" (Pt. 1)

The new season of Project Runway has officially kicked off, and I'm thrilled! There is still the mystery 16th station, which was filled by Amanda Valentine of season 11. I was hoping for Alexander Pope of Season 12 because he was really talented. The group of designers I am rooting for would have to be Jefferson Musanda and Emily Payne. Angela Sum and Sandhya Garg are honestly the designers with the least talent. There is a definite lack of convention in this group of designers, which will have everyone falling in LOVE. Mitchell Perry and Carrie Sleutskaya were the last safe designers.

More will come on the actual challenge either tonight or in the morning.
Add your input on predictions and whatnot in the comments below!

THEY'RE BACK!

Ah, the sounds of Insanity and Chaos fill the air for another fabulous season of Project Runway! This is one of my absolute FAVORITE SHOWS! I am REALLY EXCITED for the new season with the fresh batch of designers! And the dream team of Nina, Zac, and Heidi are back for more insane and hilarious comments and judgement! Tim Gunn is back for more mentoring and advice! Check back in tonight at 9:00 or tomorrow morning for my input on the new season! Also check out another designer and PR alum +Bert Keeter and his input on the new season on www.bertkeeter.com! Tune in to Project Runway TONIGHT at 9:00 on lifetime!

Menswear

This is the beginning of Just Some Polyvore Collages! I decided to start with a menswear look with a hint of femininity because menswear really spoke to me. I like when people play up the menswear game, especially with something feminine like a red lip, or a two-tone cat eye. I love the sleek look a lot because it looks sharp, and shows off your body well. Add some feminine touches so you don't look 100% like a man! I did a menswear look for a hair show with a curly, mohawk like thing. Girls can do it too!

New Series

Hello everyone! I am back and in the mood to try something different; a new blogger series! I am going into the delightful world of +Polyvore, which is a website where you can make collages of fashion and home, you can also buy some clothing as well! I love this website so much, and it always got me through the boredom days. So i will make a new series called

*drum roll*

Just Some Polyvore Collages!

You may be asking "how does this series work?"

It will be as simple as this

  1. I will either find a collage, or make my own
  2. I will talk about it, and shout out the creator if it isn't me
You could also email me a collage from polyvore at justateenagefashionista@outlook.com

Back to Black

The time has come for community theatre shows! I am in the stage crew, so I get to do all black for 3 days! I like to be in black because it is actually slimming. The theatre tees we got are black and I ordered a size down! I look good, it fits well, and you can see me more. All black is also kind of annoying because ALL BLACK, no b&w... Just b. so I have to pull three looks that are all black! It's hard! So far, I had this peplum tank by Express. I think it's only $20. It's just a basic tank. I had black shorts by Old Navy for maybe like $25 don't quote me on that. I would post a pic, but its morning, I'm tired, I look terrible. And this isn't a look that's hard to imagine.

Feeling reb.o.r.n

As some of you may know, there is a whole new fabulous new channel on TV called +FYI . On this wonderful channel, there is a show called b.o.r.n. to style. As soon as I saw this fabulous show, I fell head over heels. The cast consists of Jonathan Bodrick, JJ Langan, Brandon Hood, Terry Artis, Devin Stokes, and phenomenal makeup artist Kristen Brown. Usually with style shows, they tend to get very "blah," but this cast of stylists had me on my toes wondering what the next pull was. Step aside What Not To Wear, b.o.r.n to style is coming in HOT! There is a "happy dysfunction" in a sense that gives the store a realistic vibe, instead of the "hey" "hey" kind of conversations. From episode one, I knew that this would be a party. Thank you guys for giving tips applicable to women everywhere for the topic of FABULOUS. The store itself has an ecletic vibe that no other store can beat. Bright colors and unique patterns make this store not a snore.

The cast of b.o.r.n to style from left to right: Brandon Hood, Terry Artis, TOP CENTER: Devin Stokes, Kristen Brown, JJ Langan, BOTTOM CENTER: Store Owner Jonathan Brown

Blue Highlight

The blue highlight is safe! I ran a malware scan and there is no more blue words!

The right to bare stomach

Oh, the hot-butted issue of showing skin or not. Showing the stomach can be tasteful, if done in moderation; almost like a pizza. If there is a proper balance between stomach and shirt, life is good. Yes, there are bandeau bras and whatnot. I like bandeau tops, if they are paired with the right things. A bomber jacket and a bandeau is a quick fix, add a skirt obviously. Seeing that I have a stomach, I guess this is where the "do it right or you'll look horrible" thing comes into play. The only thing that is annoying is when girls try to show an entire stomach, and the stomach looks bad. One trick I learned from What Not To Wear was to get a good support for the chest so you can get a true silhouette.

In a nutshell stomach can be classy, if done right.

The "yes moment for this comes in a proper fit, and proper pairing.

The "oh dear god" moment for this is the ill-fitting top. The top looks way too tight, and you can clearly see her nipples through the top. If this top would have fit, I would have loved this look so much more.

Sound off in the comments, or email me at justateenagefashionista@outlook.com about whether you think it's cool to bear stomach.

Future Plans for the Blog

I really want to get to know who reads this blog! I can see in my stats that its America, and some international countries! I really like that this blog is going international. So I plan on posting corresponding looks for the day. I feel like that is what is holding me back from becoming a true style blog. So I am going to start that... I also want to try to do some Q&A stuff. I just want to be able to interact with my readers.

The email for the Q&A will be justateenagefashionista@outlook.com I will try to answer the questions as quickly and as honestly as possible.

Keep in mind that I am a normal, suburban child, so I won't have the most expensive stuff to show. I like to use what I have to look fab!

Stereotyping

A stereotype is a widely held but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a particular type of person or thing.

I am a ginger, which means I am just assumed to be a soulless anti-sun freak of nature. Stereotyping  is really insulting to anyone, no matter how offensive it is. Especially when it comes to the summer; people tell me I need an SPF 50+. Really? I use a 15 and I'm fine. I absolutely can not deal with people stereotyping. It really gets to me because being a ginger is a cool thing. You kinda get to be in your own little gang, and everyone gets along. It's when people practically tell me that I am pretty much a monster, that's when you cross the line. The line gets damaged when you continue mocking. I thought you were a sun goddess. Wow; I can tan, but I don't sit in the sun for hours at a time and intentionally burn myself; everyone has a limit.

If you are reading this, and you are different from the others (maybe race, hair color, religion) or whatever the case may be; Be yourself. People will make fun of you for your differences, but don't let it affect you.

We were put on this earth to make it diverse, and bring life, don't make us all one lump of awkward people. I have a soul, I can tan, I have freckles, I have a hot temper, but I make sure I stay true to who I am, and NOT fit the stereotype.

Love yourself the way you are!

Body Positivity.

Body Positivity is a big thing for me. I am a curvy girl (not the skinny type) and just saying "I love my body" makes me feel much better about myself. There are some people who really pushed for this. Rhianna's See-Through dress was a big push because she was pretty much letting it all out for people to see. I love it when people can clearly see that they are fine the way they are. If there are any haters, let them sit in haterville. I have become more body positive this summer as well! You never would have seen me in short shorts and crop tops, but here I am! I can fit in the skinny girl stores like Victoria's Secret and Hollister!

Just remember, any time you feel down, take a deep breath and say "I love my body."

Oklahoma!

Our show's cast party was on Saturday, and it was FUN. I got to dress fancy one more time before the end of school and I LOVED it! I wore the little lavender dress shown below with the heels also shown below. I had a fancier dress with a higher heel, but I was like "no." A bunch of us got together and get fancy, and looked VERY classy. I even got to sing fancy with my friend.

Who I Am

I am not a size 0
I don't have visible hipbones
Or a thigh gap
I'm not 5'9"

I am a size 16
with curves
I love my body
I love my life
and I am proud of who I am
I'm 5"3

My beef with the dress code

Schools are letting out for the year in some areas and let me tell you, I'm excited! I am currently in the almighty finals week... so we pretty much have a wear-what-you-want kind of vibe. There's one problem though... I have no idea if we are still following the dress code! Our principal is still busting people for modesty, but I see some people wearing tanktops and short shorts! I'm just confused. I feel like I would be one of the people that would get yelled at just because I'm me. I am a curvier girl, so people notice things on me more. I wanted to wear shorts, but I feel like I would be called out about it. That would be hypocrisy on their part, as well as fat shaming because skinny people could get past and I can't. I'm lost. I'm wearing shorts to finals, I don't care.

The New DSW

So a new DSW or Designer Shoe Warehouse has opened near me, and I am excited! I went in there over my spring break and I was satisfied. They had little shelves of shoes that were at least a tenth of a mile long. I tried on at least five pairs of shoes. They were a little bit expensive, but the quality of the shoes is PHENOMENAL. I got so many compliments on my pair of black, white, and green flats by CL by Laundry.

In a nutshell

Go to DSW.

Updates and questions

Just a few updates and comments
I feel so bad that I couldn't write anything this weekend. I had to sing in a concert on Saturday and then go see family on Sunday. I am trying to write on a more frequent schedule instead of just random days.
Who are some of my readers? Just put your name in the comments so I can get to know who reads this blog.
I want to open up a challenge since I apparently have national, and international readers (shoutout to Germany and Russia!) I kind of want to see some street styles where you all live. Just email me pictures at justateenagefashionista@outlook.com and attach a name, and tell me where you're from. The world isn't all a bad place when its filled with stylish people.

I kind of want to do this to see some styles and potentially put pics on here, or put them in my newspaper article.

If anybody has any questions about me or my blog, just email me at justateenagefashionista@outlook.com

Thank you all for reading my blog!

Looking Good at Work

Keeping a good style in the workplace is crucial for anyone; especially the people that have to be in front of crowds. I am sitting in a class right now with a lady in a velvet tracksuit and I seriously can not deal with it. A good look can draw anybody's eye so they will pay attention. Being a student, you get to see teachers and their sense of style. Some teachers know how to look good, while being appropriate. You don't have to be in a gown and spike heels. But please, keep the tracksuits out of a professional environment. Please!

This (insane) bringing back of the cold...

The temperatures are dropping yet again for the... 10th time now? Which means that we may or may not have to go back into these bundles of clothing. Mother Nature is probably trying to say that we definitely should NOT put back our sweaters and pants. I don't know about you guys, but I am fed up with this cold weather. i just want to be able to show my legs, and wear skirts. If the weather is semi-decent, feel free to show some leg.

Tuesday, April 1, 2014

Cardi time!

When going on travel, be sure to wear clothing to last in any situation. Since the delightful springtime has arrived, it's time to show some moderate leg. It's also cold, so wear a cardigan, or other kind of fabulous jacket with the dress of choice. Take advantage of this wonderful weather while we have it!

Spring has Sprung!

Now that spring is here, it is the time to bring out the dresses and shoes IN MODERATION (those hotpants aren't necessary yet.) The legs are starting to come out very nicely. A nice dress for spring is to the knee, or even t-length. As I write this today, I am wearing a dress. Just as the flowers in the ground are coming out, the flowers are coming out on clothing. Even though there is warm weather, that doesn't mean strapless. Keep a thin jacket to pair with any dress. A thicker shoulder strap is okay to do as well if it were maybe in the middle to upper 60s. The springier colors have come out of hibernation as well. The pinks, blues, and bright colors have beat out the Black and White Winter.

A personal menswear theory

Being in my shoes, you get to hang out with a lot of guys (going to dances, etc.) the one thing that will make any man worthy of a woman is nicely fitting clothes. I have sen many guys in horribly fitting things, and I wanted to cringe. Nicely fitting things can make any man look SOOOO sophisticated, and so many women will fall in love. In a nutshell

Wear clothes that fit

The excitement of new stores

Right about where my mom mom lives, there is supposed to be a DSW going in. I only found out on Friday that it opens next week. I saw he billboard and I was like "yaaaassssss WAIT... NEXT THURSDAY?!?!?!?!" I got so excited and I couldn't wait to try some shoes on there. Besides, I need some new flats. It was very thrilling.

The first time in high fashion

When you are an average Jenny like me (going to high school, normal family blah blah blah...) you don't really get that many experiences in terms of high fashion. Every summer, my grandmother and I usually take fay trips to New York City and shop around. Last Summer, let's just say we wandered on to Madison Avenue. I seriously died and went to the big runway in the sky. I went into Louis Vuitton, Armani, Michael Kors, Lacoste, Tommy Hilfiger, Tiffany's (Saks Fifth). I wanted to try the Louis heels on but my grandmother was like "DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING OR SO HELP ME." I seriously died and went to heaven... it was fabulous.

My strategy for formal events...

So every time I have to do something where I have to dress up, I get really REALLY excited. I usually prepare months in advance, but end up pulling through the night of. So one day I thought "why don't I get stuff done faster?" I figured out that I am a really horrible procrastinator that sets highly unrealistic goals. So I worked out a plan for stuff... here it goes.

If you have to do something formal (award shows, important parties, etc.)

2-3 months
  • get the basic look together
  • make sure it fits
1-2 months
  • get any alterations done that need to be done
  • if the fit is good, try the outfit on again, make sure it still fits, or of you need any alterations still, DO THEM!!!
1 month
  • Draft the hair, and if you are a woman, draft the makeup
    • make sure all of your products are fresh so you do no damage
  • Try the ensemble on again
2 weeks
  • actually go to the planned location and have your hair (and makeup) done
    • wear a button down to the hair trial
  • try on the ensemble one more time
1 week
  • if this the first time in a high(er) heel, practice walking around in the shoes
    • spare yourself the idiocy
Week of Event
  • Just keep your confidence up, maintain a healthy look, and life will be good...
    • in a nutshell, don't freak out
  • keep practicing in those heels!
Day (or evening) of Event
  • If you are a student (like me), do something fun after school
  • if you have a restaurant in a close distance, eat before getting hair done
  • Go to the salon of choice in your normal clothes
    • wear a button down for the salon
      • stylist's daughter trick
  • At about an hour away, start to get dressed
    • the order of operations should be dress, hair, makeup
      • shoes go on about 30 minutes before leaving
So this was my formal plan

My stylish metamorphasis

When I grew up, I was primarily raised amongst the boys, so I took up a tomboy lifestyle. I did karate, and got really active. The downside of that was that i wasn't the skinniest person of the group. Many people have called me "sir" well into my elementary school years. The downside of the whole thing was that I also wanted a pixie haircut like a good friend of mine had. In the summer of 2011 (I think) I started the change into a more feminine look. I got more feminine clothing, and learned to embrace it. I went down on the Gildan t shirt size, which helped with showing off my curves. I did get the pixie cut I wanted, and I felt freed. There was one problem though, makeup was next on the list. I never had an interest in makeup until my 8th grade year. I always thought of it as a security blanket; but it isn't. Makeup to me now is a new way to express myself. i enjoy the natural palettes. Now i am a freshman in high school living my life to the fullest!

Musical Theatre Days.

It's Oklahoma Day in my school, so i did a royal blue t shirt and black sweatpants. Unfortunately, they are a little bit too low at the crotch. As soon as i get home, i have to pack some blacks and leave!

The end of the musical era (for now). help

Tonight starts the final week of rehearsal, that means all black! sadly, the nicest black thing i own is a Michael Kors longsleeve. But luckily in May I get to go BACK to the YNOT Awards looking stunning! Lets pray i get a new dress! does anybody have any recommendations with what would go with a pair of roughly 5 inch lace booties?
